While working for a technology company, I interviewed a candidate who was 60+ years of age. I was 34 at the time. My boss (41) told me not to hire the candidate because of age. I knew right there and then, that someday, I too will be on the 'aged' side of the table. As I turned 40, I changed careers by getting a real estate & loan agent related license (then more after that). I was really happy that I had no boss and could work on my own schedule. There are many licenses that only require you to be just 18 years of age, and pass a licensing or certification course. This can add to your income or be the start of a new career.
